Because We're Always Learning More About God
Wrapping up our in-depth study of Galatians, we turn our scholarly attention to Colossians. These two books perfectly dovetail Paul's enriched teaching. From Galatians, we know we are saved by grace, by faith in Jesus; and we have liberty from the religion of keeping the law. For, "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
In Colossians we will learn of Christ's preeminence, above all things, and how we are made completely full in Him. "For in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have come to fullness in Him, who is the head of every ruler and authority." (Colossians 2:9a)
Furthermore, He is over all things. There is nothing that will not be subjected to His authority. We are encouraged by Paul's letter to allow Jesus to enter every aspect of our lives, in body, mind, and spirit; to strive to be discipled by Christ, to follow His walk, and encourage others to follow by example.
We will look at my life verse in Colossians 3:17, which helps me keep Jesus in that preeminent space: "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Jesus is for everyone. There is no esoteric rites to perform to allow you entry into His presence. Only by answering His call and believing in Him will you be saved. Afterward, you will be compelled to seek Jesus first in all things. You will begin to abide in Him, for He is truth. Life with Jesus is exciting, not mundane! As you move closer in apperance to Him, you will thrill at the change in your own life. God will perfect you in His image as He oversees and guides your sancitification (the change process). In this class we will explore these things together, sharing and edifying one another, gaining a great love and expectation of His next appearing!
I am excited! I hope you are as well.
