Because We're Always Learning More About GOD

It is my highest hope that those who believe in Jesus would remember their first love for Him, keeping Him not merely as prominent but as preeminent. The church is putting a lot of effort in waging battle with social and humanitarian conditions and searching for who the antichrist might be. But think about it. The poor will always be here along with the sick and the hungry. Certainly, don’t miss the opportunity out of love to care for someone, especially if they will listen to the truth of the gospel. Setting up soup kitchens, however, isn’t the purpose for the church. Waiting for antichrist is not our mission or our hope.

Our 3-point mission is: 1. worshiping and glorifying GOD, 2. edifying the saints (believers), and 3. evangelizing the world.

We are not fighting the world’s problems, but we are aware of the spiritual battle that is being waged. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

There is always a new book out by a guru that says they have all the answers. The church is too easily swayed by the anticipation they may get a higher emotion or spiritual filling. If the church believes in Jesus, then they have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them! The only book needed is The Holy Bible. And we don’t need a Holy Spirit upgrade. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus and our hope in His soon arrival at the time of harpazo, or the rapture! Keep our first love alive and no other. Understanding that “Christ is all, and in all.” As in Colossians 3:11: if we believe in Him, we will be saved, and our salvation needs no further works to make it stick.

I am encouraged that our class is learning how to do this, and admiringly! Continuing our weekly study in Colossians, I see the saints truly maturing before my eyes and witnessed by their increased ability in learning the scriptures and praying earnestly. The class is nearly finished with chapter 3 and chapter 4 is a short one. I anticipate completing the book by Memorial Day. The next study will be . . .?

Submitting to the will of GOD and giving thanks to GOD in the name of Jesus and through Him,

Evan Adams, Elder
